Social activities for people with sight loss, in the Brighton and Hove AreaArgus Charity of the year 2008 |
City Synergy celebrated Strictly Come Dancing with a one-off tribute evening requiring members to show off their ballroom dancing skills, plus some variations that would have judge Len Goodman waltzing on his walnuts. Was Iris moonwalking? Had Paul really twisted his ankle only a week before he swept his partner across the floor? When the salsa rhythms stuck up, we danced again as Valerie had taught us years previously (funnily enough, for other Latin American styles it a case of Samba, you have forgotten me).
It was syncopate or swim as City Synergy members choreographed dances with string puppets and then, in a finale, danced with celebrity guests Ola and Kristina (see pictures of the lovelies from the show). Martin had such a close hold of Ola, the mop-haired lovely, that he brushed with a restraining order, and now has a restraining order with a brush.
A great evening that exceeded all expectations.
Thanks to everyone who joined in so enthusiastically.

Our thanks to Chris & Jonathan, our hosts for the evening and to Keith Trampleasure and Maya Mendez our judges, Darcey Bussell may need to watch out as Maya would make a perfect replacement
